Book-A-Librarian: Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for this service? All Adult Comsewogue Public Library cardholders (18 years and older).

What type of assistance does the library provide? Library services and resources include how to: download an ebook or audiobook, search the library catalog, find a great book to read, etc. Please see the online form for your options.

Is there anything I can't get help with? We cannot provide advice (medical, legal, financial, etc.). We cannot help with any kind of personal/confidential information, job applications, online searching, email, computer instruction, computer problems or connectivity issues.

I need help with basic computer instruction, online searching and/or email? What can I do? You can attend a helpful program at the library. We offer many classes including: Introduction to Computers, Internet for Beginners, All about Email, and so much more.

Who will be helping me? We will look at your request and determine the best adult reference librarian to meet with you based on their expertise and availability.

How long will the appointment be? Each appointment will last for approximately 30 minutes. Additional appointments can be requested, however they are based on availability and limited to one session per month.

How do I make an appointment? Complete the form with as much information as possible. A librarian will get in touch with you to schedule an appointment. Please note: We will be in touch with you within 3-4 days from the date you submit your request.

Where do I go in the library for my appointment? Come to the Adult Reference desk. The librarian will meet you and direct you to the meeting space.

I need to cancel my appointment? Please let us know as soon as possible. 24 hours notice is preferred. Call the Adult Reference desk at 928-1212 or email us at comsaref@suffolk.lib.ny.us. We will do our best to reschedule your appointment.
