Eye Glasses
Millions living in low and middle income countries lack access to basic eye care services. The Library collects usable glasses to support a not-for-profit program. Donate eyeglasses at the drop box on the Circulation desk. Accepted are sunglasses, prescription, and reading glasses with both plastic and metal frames (no cases please).

Food
The Library hosts a year-round community food drive, with contributions distributed via Long Island Cares, which endeavors to feed more than 280,000 hungry Long Islanders. Over 400 pounds of food were collected at the Library in 2015.

Toys
Toys for Tots of Suffolk County each year provides a drop off box for new, unwrapped toys in the Library’s main lobby, with collection beginning in late October. This program, run by the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve, delivers a message of hope to our less fortunate youngsters.

Tree of Warmth
Each Winter, beginning on December 1, the community is invited to drop off donations of new winter hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for both children and adults. Socks are also welcome on the tree. These items are donated to a variety of local non-profit agencies working with our neighbors in need.
